Meet The Coaches

All of our coaches are well qualified and dedicated to providing a high standard of training.

Head Coach

Jerry Zhang

Jerry has been coaching for 20 years, since retiring from his swimming career. A former elite National Level swimmer, he has gained a lot of experience through swimming and coaching. To date he has coached more than a hundred swimmers. He has been Assistant Coach to various Top Level Chinese Coaches. He has also held the position of Head Coach for Yanlord Garden Swimming Club in Shanghai. Jerry has a strong passion for coaching and strives to assist all club swimmers in achieving their full potential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Physical Education Degree
  • Swimming Australia Advanced Coach (theory)
  • ASCTA Open Water Coach Certificate
  • CSA Level 2 coach.

Assistant Coach

Liam Burke 

Liam has been working as an instructor for many years with the Thebarton Aquatic Centre. During this time, he has worked with people of all backgrounds, abilities and ages. Within the last five years, Liam has turned his focus to competitive swimming, working with both Thebarton Aquatic Centre’s Swim School and Henley and Grange’s Club swimmers.

Liam’s key focus has been helping and enabling swim school members to make the transition to the demands and requirements of club swimming. His drive and enthusiasm for health and education do not end at poolside, with Liam studying Human Movement towards a Masters of Teaching at The University of South Australia.

During his time studying at university, he has completed studies related to club swimmers and helping them maintain involvement in the sport.

With all this experience and education, Liam always intends to deliver a holistic and inclusive swimming experience with his athletes. He is only too happy to assist and answer any questions for parents and swimmers.
